Congratulations to Ellen!!

Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, are starting a family together, her rep, Jennifer Allen, confirms to PEOPLE.

“It’s great news,” says Allen. “They’re ecstatic.”

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star, 39, and Ivery, 41, a music producer, were married by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a low-key ceremony in November 2007. The couple met in a grocery store in 2003 and began dating six months later.

Ellen Pompeo, known for the title role of Meredith on “Grey’s Anatomy,� is one of the few women in showbiz to be in a position to admit that she puts almost no effort into being in such enviable shape as she is. A naturally skinny woman, the 39-year-old actress tells People magazine that she doesn’t work out that much. However, when she does, it’s not because she wants to lose weight, but to build muscle instead.

Due to her frail frame, the tabloids have often picked on Ellen, spreading rumors that she might be suffering from an eating disorder. This is far from the case, the actress now says. She does watch what she eats, but that’s only because she likes to have only “clean� foods, and she never sticks with diets because she risks people calling her anorexic.

“I tried, but I get too skinny, and people think I’m anorexic. It just doesn’t suit my body type.â€� Pompeo also tells People about trying to go vegetarian. So, in order to focus on her health, she goes only for clean foods, which means no sugar and white flour, but plenty of berries, greens and yams, which also make for excellent snacks. George wasn’t intimidated joining the cast. “I knew Ellen (Pompeo) before I was cast. There was a time when it was like, was it going to be her or me on Alias (as we know, it was George who landed 23 episodes). “But I was very nervous because it’s such a crazy part, even by Grey’s standards, and Grey’s hasn’t really had that in a while. This role is tapping into the happier side of myself and I’m so much healthier from doing it,” she says. “I’m laughing all day, and I come
home and I have lots of energy whereas, when I did In Treatment, or my last movie, Triangle (a horror movie), it was hard to switch off.”

Pompeo says, “We’ve had a lot of controversies and, of course they affect us. We spend a lot of time together here, so when people’s lives are affected, you feel bad. You wonder why, and you think that things should be handled differently but artists will never understand executive decisions.” [Source]
